Sounds like everything is on the right track.

Use the Topo Link command to draw where the existing cross sections should be placed on the topo. Select the cross section you want to link back to your topo map (making it current), select Input | Ground Geometry | Topo Link and then draw on the map where the cross section should be located. Note that you can use the command Move Topo Link Line and Rotate Topo Link Line to reposition the cross section location. The bank stations and other related data will also then be displayed on the topo map.
