Re: DAMBRK Analysis Runs

Dear Stephen :

Note that DAMBRK runs really fast. I was having runs on the order of just a couple of seconds for your model. But, the UNET model runs were on the order of 40 minutes (when it converged).

When you run the model steady state, it is sometimes difficult to spot problems in the model since you really are not routing a hydrograph. And, since you are running it steady state with a low flow, it is possible that the dam is not failing--thereby causing you to see the small outflow from the reservoir structure.

Note that surface area is the preferred method of defining reservoir volume since the reservoir storage routing uses area in its computations, and the volume to surface area conversion algorithm used by DAMBRK does not always provide an adequate conversion. So, it is best to check the data that you have defined to see if there is a problem with your data.
