level pool routing vs dynamic routing

We have three reservoirs in our model with some critical elevations of the top of a protective dike in the middle reservoir.

We modeled using option 14 with level pool for the upper reservoir and by defenition the routing through the lower reservoirs is done using dynamic routing. Is there a general rule with respect to accuracies, mainly reservoir elevations between the two routing methods? Does one method overestimate water surface elevations above the other method?

I appreciate feedback.
Thanks

Re: level pool routing vs dynamic routing

Barend :

The storage (level pool) reservoir routing method tends to more conservative since it assumes that all of the water is available to leave the reservoir at an instant. This method does not account for the travel time necessary in a large reservoir for the water to work its way from end of the reservoir to the other end. For large reservoirs (more than a couple miles long), this can be overly conservative in the analysis.
