Randow CTDs on Windows 2000 Pro

Hi,

Ever since upgradig the OS to Windows 2000 in some of our workstations, DamBreak 3.0 will suffer random crashes to desktop while working with it.

There seems to be no pattern, although there are a few places where the crash is almost certain (for example upon the "exit" command to exit dambrks DOS shell. Launching a calculation is another risky spot)

It seems to be related with the key somehow (Sentinel SuperPro) because in our company we have two, one of which has a lot less crashes than the other. It must be kept in mind that none of these crashes ever happen when running any of the two keys in a win98 workstation.

We have installed several times the sentinel drivers that come with DamBrk's installation CD and have even tried the most recent ones available in Rainbow Technologies web page but to no avail (version 5.42)...random crashes keep happening.

Grateful for any help you can give us.
Thanks.

Make certain that you have the latest service pack for Windows 2000.

I would check with Rainbow, and perhaps try a newer hardware lock driver.

Thanks for the help but latest drivers are already installed.

We're out of ideas here....

¿Could tweaking memory settings in dambreak's .pif link be of any use?

I would recommend trying to change the PIF settings. I think that this should resolve the issue. You might also try to force it to use Windows 98 compatibility mode.
