Dear CD Soemarto:
The channel top width data is used to denote the width of active flow area. Typically this is the area between the channel banks.
The storage top width (which can be zero) is used to denote the width of any adjacent area that carries no flow, but is used to model stored water (water that enters storage as the hydrograph passes by, thereby attenuating the hydrograph).
The floodplain top width (which also can be zero) is used to denote the width of flow area that resides in the floodplain.
Please contact me should you have any additional questions.
Sincerely,
Chris E. Maeder, M.S.
