Spillway output

Chris

I have a model that consists of several dams and bridges. I have calculated and entered data in the spillway rating curve table(s) for each of the dams. The model runs smoothly and I am satisfied with the results. However, I can't seem to find any output analysis relating to the flows through the spillways. Doesn't DAMBRK include them in its output or am I just blind? If no analysis is presented, how can I check the program to make sure its modeling what I really want it to? Thank you.

Re: Spillway output

Dear Robert F. Dovich Jr. :

You are correct, DAMBRK output does not have much as output on the dam structure's spillway. However, I can offer you two suggestions:

1. Model each structure seperately as a Problem Specification Option #1. This option does the reservoir routing first. As such, it gernerate a Reservoir Depletion Table as part of its standard output. This will give you the data that you are looking for. However, this requires that you break your existing model down into submodels--which shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. However, be aware that you will get different results if you have tailwater submergence effects at any of the dams. Option #1 does not handle this effect at all.

2. Look at the iterative output from the model -- YES, that long portion of the model results. In there you will see scattered about the spillway output at each of the dam structures. Not a nice neat table, but enough there where you could easily compile into seperate tables.

Hope this gets you going. If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.
