FPM - import data

M. Maeder,

We are using the Floodplain Mapping module of RiverCAD software in order to represent the inondation map of a river reach after a dambreak analysis.

We use either the HEC-2 or HEC-RAS to define the cross sections of the study reach from a numerized map. After that, we shift to the Floodplain Mapping module from where we tried to import a text file with the format indicated in the page 3-74 of the User Manual and even we tried to import xxx.FPM files from DAMBRK model, which we couldn't do because there is an error message saying:

"Debug assertion Failed!
program: C:RCAD|BIN|RIVERCAD"EXE
File: dbgheap.c
Line: 1017

Expression: _BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID[pHead->nBlockUse]

For infomation on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation an asserts."

This is an error that makes stop the program

If you have some comments to this question, please write me as soon as possible.

Re: FPM - import data

Your file is not of the correct format. Note that the format documented on this page is for importing a cross-section geometry into RiverCAD. Note that DAMBRK generates a ***.FPM file that you can then import into RiverCAD's Floodplain Mapping Module. These two files are different formats.

I have enclosed a sample FPM file below.

29500 7.00
30000 8.08
30500 9.42
31000 10.58
31500 11.53
32000 12.93
32500 13.73

Note that the first column represents the cross-section number, and the second column represents the water surface elevation.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or need any further information.

Sincerely,
