Longer dam failure causes higher peak flows

I am working with dambrk to model a couple of dams in New Brunswich. I am having trouble understanding the output results I am obtaining. When I increase the Time of Breach formation in the dam description I get higher peak flows and higher peak water levels at each of the cross sections. I would think this would be opposite.Could you give me a quick explanation of why I might be getting these results.

Re: Longer dam failure causes higher peak flows

Dear Chris :

There is something else going on here. I would suspect that the time step you have defined (or that the DAMBRK program is computing) is too large. In addition, note that we have a PDF file posted on our DAMBRK download that can assist you in troubleshooting your model.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,
