Skewed backdrop but fine in metafile?

I'm working with Autocad 2004 and have saved my work as a metafile. When viewing this file with 'windows picture and fax viewer' the image is topographical BUT when I import it to EPANET the drawing goes from a topographical view to a skewed view ie. not topographical and not cross section but somewhere in between.
How can I get EPANET to 'see' the drawing topographically?
Bitmap works okay but hasn't got the resolution that I need.

Ideas anyone?
