small time step

i am using epanet for simulation while using my control algorithms..
i wanted to know whether epanet can be simulated for 5 or 10 secs..

i tried the following procedure i would like to know whether i am doing the right thing.
if i save the data as inp file and put qlty time step as 2 secs.. and when i open it shows me the setting of qlty time step as 0.
so i tried to set the time (qlty time step) as: 0:0.0833 (for 5 secs) by opening junctions-> options->time->.
Then it starts working as shows me two values.. though there is not much change..
