Fire statistics

I am a Ph.D. student at UC Boulder, researching the optimization of water
distribution systems.

I need statistical data on the frequency of fires.

Probability that a fire would occur, during a one year period; single
family homes, apartments, shopping malls, warehouses, hospitals, etc.

Another source of useful information would be the fire insurance rates for
the above structures as a function of available fire flow and pressure.

Any information or reference that you care to provide, would be very much
appreciated.

Sincerely,

Istvan Lippai

Re: Fire statistics

Istvan,

Try the Insurance Service Office Commercial Risk Services Group. They are located in an Atlanta suburb.

Re: Fire statistics

I have a number for the ISO in Los Angeles: 213-725-1777. I think they have regional offices. I've lost their main number, but this number ought to get you started.

You might also try the National Fire Protection Association in Quincy Mass., at 800-344-3555. I haven't spoken to anyone at this organization.
