SWMM 5 Update
The EPA SWMM Redevelopment Project web page (www.epa.gov/ednnrmrl/swmm)
has been updated with the following new items:
1. An update to the Overall Progress Report summarizes our progress to
date. About 80% of the coding has been completed and we have begun our
internal testing. A beta version of the product should be available in
2-3 months.
2. The Quality Assurance Project Plan has been posted. It discusses the
methods and procedures we will be using to test the quality of the
re-developed code.
3. A draft of the SWMM 5 Input Data File Format specification has been
posted. It describes the new format that will be used for input data
files. Under normal usage, the SWMM 5 Windows interface will handle the
details of preparing this file based on user input to special data forms
and graphical editors. Also, CDM is developing a converter program that
will translate older SWMM data sets into this format. The specification
is still somewhat incomplete, leaving out some of the lesser-used (but
still important) portions of SWMM we have not yet re-coded.
Although we have received some good suggestions for extending and
enhancing the computational engine of SWMM, the reality of our project
time line will prevent us from pursuing such efforts for the first
release of SWMM 5. We hope to have the opportunity to work on such
enhancements in the future.
As always, we welcome any feedback you may wish to provide us.
On behalf of the SWMM 5 Redevelopment Team,
Lewis Rossman
