Orifice type not read correct

Hello

I need help in regard with head dependent orifices.

I have head dependent circular orifice (type 21) that closes at a
certain water elevation. This information is described in F4 line that
follows the F1 line describing the orifice.

I did so in the attached extran. The orifice still allow flows when
the upstream water HGL reaches the defined closing head?

When I checked the output, I found that SWMM reads the F4 line, but
when reading the F1 line, it describes the orifice as type 1 not 21?

I tried to change the orifice to type 23 (rectangular orifice) in F1
line, SWMM also reads it type 3? Seems SWMM reads the first digit only
and not the whole number in the NKLASS in F1 line? Not sure why is the
head control not working?

Please advice if you have experience with this problem..
Thank You

Re: Orifice type not read correct

Hazem - the file does not include @ records, so I assume you are using
some windows engine. If that engine is rewriting the file before
operating on it, it may be formatting the rewrite slightly different; I
encountered this with MIKE-SWMM for data in Col 3. Since NKLASS is the
third data item in the line, the problem I cited is not operative; if
this is the type of problem that is occurring, it would have required a
formatted read or write statement somewhere along the line, which would
seem inexplicable. Check with the SWMM engine provider.

Not much help, but that's my 2 cents.

Re: Orifice type not read correct

Thanks Ron

Will try to re-run using epa-swmm. I am using PCSWMM where the @ lines
are not needed.

Re: Orifice type not read correct

Don't be confused by the echo in the output. The program (epa swmm 44h)
does echo back the opening and closing data as shown below. Program
converts type to 1 (by subtracting 20) for internal calcs. Hence the
confusing output. The gate should be closed at elevations of 705.65
feet and greater and be open for depths less than 702.15. I couldn't
run the interface (its not compatible with with epa swmm). The orfice
should should work though....
