GIS module difficulties

I'm trying to setup my existing storm drainage system. My system
consists mostly of ditches with culverts going under roads etc. I place
the culverts in the GIS module as in the tutorial. However, upon closing
and reopening the GIS module, something happens to my file. It seems
that PCSWMM goes through and arbitrarily connects some of the nodes as
it thinks it should be. For the most part, it is connecting sequential
node numbers, but it doesn't connect all of them, just some of them. In
summary, when I reopen my GIS module, I have lines going everywhere that
I didn't draw. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Re: GIS module difficulties

SWMMers,

Jeff just called me and we solved his problem... as per usual, PCSWMM
questions should be addressed off-list.

Sincerely,

Re: GIS module difficulties

Rob,

I tend to agree, however, these "problems" may be of interest to others
using or contemplating the use of PCSWMM.

Re: GIS module difficulties

Phil,

Please see below for the continuation of the dialog (between Jeff and
me) on the use of the SWMM-USERS listserver. I agree there is a need for
publicly available discussion of PCSWMM theory, functionality and bugs.
To this end we are setting up a public PCSWMM listserver and searchable
database.

Regarding Jeff's original question, which I described as a problem as it
stemmed from a misunderstanding of the designed behaviour of PCSWMM and
not actually a case of PCSWMM "arbitrarily connecting some of the nodes
as it thinks it should" - although it might just be a wonderful feature
to add (imagine a big button that reads "Design system!").

Sincerely,

Rob James, P.Eng.
