Mike SWMM - How to delete nodes/links from the horizontal plan window

I am a new user to Mike SWMM and am working using the trial version. I am having problem with deleting junctions in the horizontal plan view. When I right click and select the "remove junctions using polygons", it does not respond properly. It allows me to select by forming a polygon, but does not remove the junctions. Moreover, it hangs up sometimes during this process. I would really appreciate it someone could guide me on this.

I am a beginner in Mike SWMM. I am anyhow figuring out how the input data file is coded. Thanks for your reply - I am looking into it.
