Time series/rainfall

I was instructed to develop a watershed with a design storm of 50yr/24hr. From NOAA I obtained a map showing the rainfall to be approximately 8.16 in (Georgia area). I do not know how to properly input this data into the time series editor. I am accustomed to Hydraflow Hydrographs (IDF curves). For SWMM do I input increments over a 24 hr period (ie 1-24) for time and break up the 8.16 in rainfall into 24 increments? Does this rainfall info fall under intensity or volume? I can model this watershed with other programs (Bently PondPack, Hydraflow Hydrographs) and I get the same runoff, but with SWMM, my runoff is not correct. Any help into this matter is greatly appreciated.
