Re: Stormwater Detention Structure

The Rouge River Program here in Southeastern Michigan has constructed a number of CSO control basins. I know at least two of these basins were designed with public use of the surrounding area in mind. One basin has basketball courts, playground equipment, etc. on the top. Contact John Bona at CDM 313.963.1313 or BONAJM@cdm.com for more information.

Re: Stormwater Detention Structure

Don't know of any detention projects, but this is a pretty common procedure for storage of drinking water. I've seen pictures of tennis courts built on top.

Re: Stormwater Detention Structure

I am looking at the feasibity of a Stormwater Detention Concrete Structure that would hold approximately 70 ac-ft of runoff.

I hope this was a typo. Do you mean 7.0 ac-ft? or even .70 ac-ft?!! Well, whatever you choose to use the cover for, I sure hope it generates enough revenue to help pay for this structure :) Seriously, is the runoff so polluted or available space so limited that you need to cover it up?

Re: Stormwater Detention Structure

I am not very familiar with the concrete detention structures you are describing. (Actually, it sounds like a very large holding tank for a septic system) I have seen quite a few applications of pipe networks and arch-pipes installed under parking lots for detention storage. I have also read about using similar structures for infiltration of 'clean' runoff (from roof-tops).

I also agree with Mike Gregory, 70 ac-ft is a LOT of water.

Re: Stormwater Detention Structure

The City of Dallas constructed an underground stormwater detention facility in '92' - the Cole Park Project. The structure was constructed by mining about 100- feet below an existing city park. It provides about 220 acre-feet of storage. For more info call Albert H Halff Associates in Dallas * 214/739-0094.

Stormwater Detention Structure

I am looking at the feasibity of a Stormwater Detention Concrete Structure that would hold approximately 70 ac-ft of runoff. For safety concerns, I would like to put a cover on top of the structure. We are discussing the possibility to use the cover for another purpose, such as parking. Does anyone know of a similar project?

I have heard that an underground stormwater detention was built in Dallas, Texas. Can someone provide any information about the project?
