Monthly values

Dear all,

is it possible with HEC-HMS to use monthly precipitation and discharge values to simulate?

The reason for this question bases on the maximum 1 day input possibility in the time series manager. So, as far as I can use the monthly values, how do I need to divide the monthly values to obtain the daily values? Simply dividing the monthly value by the number of days within the month?

Hope you understand my question?

Re: Monthly values

Hi,

I'll try to answer this question, as I'm not sure if I undertood it.

Time series data in HMS (whether precipitation or flow gages or whatever...) can be entered in any of the time steps available in HMS.

The hydrological calculation time step is based on whatever you define in you control specifications dataset.

Hope that helps,

Rodrigo Freire de Macedo.

monthly precipitation for long term simulation, is it possible?!

Hi every one,
I am a new hec-hms user and I've got the same question.

My precipitation data are monthly data for about 40 years, and I am trying to make a long term simulation, but the problem is that in control specification, for time interval, hec-hms only has daily interval at most (not for monthly interval).
My question is if it's possible to use monthly data for precipitation and if so how can I define the time interval for control specification?
Every advice would be great,
Thanks,
