HEC-RAS UNET TABLE crashing

Dear Dr. Schippa :

Note that I looked at your HEC-RAS model. There are significant problems with it, and that is why UNET will not run to completion and TABLEcrashs.

In reviewing the output, I found that there are significant differences between the initial flow conditions (SNET) and the first time step flows (UNET). You can review the detailed logged output to determine what exactly it is, but I found that cross-sections 1513, 1418, and 1390 have zero (0.0) flow in them. UNET is a wet model, and must have enough flow within the channel inorder to run.

Re: HEC-RAS UNET TABLE crashing

Thank a lot for your last message.

I would like to have a look inside the computation results in order to better understand any problem or instability occurrence.

So far I have a look just on the detailed logged output but it seems to me it is restricted to the backwater profile (i.e. initial condition) which seems correct and consistent width the model.

Is it possible to have a look directly in the partial output of the
hydrodynamic model?

Best regards, Leonardo Schippa.

Re: HEC-RAS UNET TABLE crashing

Dear Dr. Leonardo Schippa :

My apologies for the delay in responding to you. I get close to 150 emails a day, and have to do teaching and engineering also.

Unfortunately, neither HEC-RAS 3.0 nor 3.1 allow you to set detailed error logs for the unsteady flow engine. So, the best way to troubleshoot the model is to eliminate some of the cross-sections (where I had pointed them out) until your model runs. This will allow you to narrow down your problem to the specific cross-section. Then, looking at the section, you should be able to determine what the problem is.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,
