Hec Ras and GIS

Hi to all. I am new to hec ras and arcview and i want to ask what type of terrain to buy for the arcview. I dont distinguish the difference between DTM,TIN and DEM.I uppose i have to ask for a DTM for the main channel and the overbanks and a DEM for the floodplain areas besides the river.I am not sure about it. i am going to buy the DTM from the geographical service of the army and i want to know exactly what i need and what's the best for my work.It would be very helpful if you could give me some information. Thanks

Here is a good place to start:

Also the ESRI site is loaded with tutorials, data, etc. www.esri.com
