Hello,
One more question for the forum:
Does HEC-RAS calculate water surface elevations for upstream profiles if you only have one downstream flow data?
I'll try to explain what I mean: in the model I’m running, (steady mode) I have a river and 4 tributaries. For each river reach I have several profiles (between 3 and 20). I know the flow at the downstream end of each tributary and the flow at the downstream end of the main river. I therefore know too, the outgoing flow at each node (just by adding flows inwards the node). For the head of the tributaries I assume a very small flow equivalent to cero (1l/s for the scale I’m working with, as HEC-RAS does not admit cero values). So, from the reach at the head, to the profile at the end of the tributaries (with several profiles) I’d like to know the water surface elevations as well as the ones downwards.
What I’ve already got is water surface elevations for profiles without flow data located between two profiles with flow data. The rest of the profiles with no flow data have no water surface elevation… Why?.
Thank you!
M.
