Overwriting cross-section data

A problem I had with earlier versions of HEC-RAS has cropped up again in v.3.1.1. At some point after entering the xsec data, the data from tributary xsecs are overwritten on xsecs on the main channel. There is no duplication of stationing. Has anyone else experienced this and found a cause/solution.

Re: Overwriting cross-section data

Yes, I've also experienced this. I have seen cross section data being overwritten into other cross sections of the same name within other reaches. The key is to use unique cross section IDs in your entire geometry file, regardless of the river reach that it is located.

Re: Overwriting cross-section data

I have noticed that earlier versions of HEC-RAS replaced data for existing cross sections with data from new, copied cross sections that I was trying to add to a new split flow reach. This had nothing to do with stationing, the sections that were replaced were on the upstream end of my reach, so the profile made significant "dives" in the upstream direction. There was some speculation that the data was getting corrupted over our network, so I moved all of my HEC-RAS data to my local drive. I also started with arbitrary xy data in my cross section, then copied the xy data into the section (as oppsed to using the "copy cross section" option). That combination of workarounds seemed to work.
