cross-section elevations are 1 ft contours

After creating a TIN file using 3d-analyst in ARCGIS 9.0 and exporting the GIS data to HecRas, I find that my cross-sections look weird and show the elevations at 1 ft intervals with decimals rounded to 0. I checked the TIN file and also the original contours file from which the TIN was created but the elevation values in both cases have decimal places of 3. I am not sure where the problem lies. I checked the precision and decimal places for the XS cutline files too, but they looked ok.

Any help would be appreciated.
