Re: CHECK-RAS problem
I have found the solution to the problem, so I am posting it in case anyone else needs it.
It seems that every once in a while HEC-RAS 'forgets' (for lack of any better explanation) what the CHECKRAS output table should look like. In which case, you have to re-define the table for it.
On the main HEC-RAS menu,
1. Click on 'View', then 'Profile Output Table'
2. On the top menu of the Profile Output Table click on 'Options' then 'Define Table'
3. A dialog box titled "Create a Table Heading" will show up. First, click on 'Clear All Table Headings'. This will clear the tables of existing values. Next, click on row#1 or column#1. Take your cursor down where "Available Variables" are, and scroll around and select 'Froude # Chl".
4. Now, your first column is titled 'Froude # Chl'. Similarly, go to columns 2 through 10 and title them as follows:
Col #2: Total Wdth Act
Col #3: Conv. Total
Col #4: Prof Delta WS
Col #5: Left Sta Eff
Col #6: Enc Sta L
Col #7: Center Station
Col #8: Enc Sta R
Col #9: Rght Sta Eff
Col #10: Min Ch El
(you cant find this description in CHECK-RAS help page titled "Creating a HEC_RAS report for subsequent runs")
Then click on the 'Additional Options' TAB on top of this dialog box and check only the following boxes:
1. Get the cross sections inside.....
2. Get Multiple Open....
3. Get all culverts....
4. Note location....
5. Cross sections
6. Culverts
Now, your CHECKRAS output table is defined and you need to save it.
5. Click on 'OK' to close dialog box. Then, on Profile Output Table (the table that you have open) menu, click on 'Options' and then 'Save Table'. A dialog box will ask for Table name. Type "CHECKRAS" (without the quotes) and then 'OK'.
6. SAVE the project
7. Generate report and then again SAVE PROJECT
8. Now go to CHECKRAS and extract report again. It should work.
NOTE: My understanding of the problem is emperical so my method might be inefficient. If someone understands why this problem happens and how to avoid it in the first place, your suggestions is appreciated
