Geo-RAS error

I have georeferenced HEC-RAS model and I would like to import the XS into GIS. I don't have the original DEM that was used to create it.

I do all the steps (create the sdf file and then convert to xml etc). When I hit the "Read Ras GIS export File" i get the following error message : " Error in DoGenericImport"

Any ideas?

When I open the sdf file in notepad it appears to have all the info, except datum and projections.

Re: Geo-RAS error

YOu must make sure your output is from RAS v3.1.3.
The SDF has a new SPATIAL EXTENTS block required by GeoRAS.

Make sure you convert to XML.

Then during the Setup, make sure that you have NOT selected a terrain model. (Start a new Arcmap sesssion that has never
had a terrain model used for post processing.)

Follow these steps and it will import the sections.

Re: Geo-RAS error

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem as the creator of this topic.

The HEC-RAS (3.1.3) model was made without GIS data nor HEC GeoRAS.. I imported GISdata for the XS dimensions from selfmade GIS file (succesfully) and then exported the GIS data to SDF. (datum, projection, and layer paths are missing)

I converted the SDF to XML in GeoRAS and when Reading Ras GIS export File, I got the same Error in DoGenericImport.

After hitting Ok I can see "River2D", "XS Cut Lines" and "BoundingPolygon" layers in the left panel, but they don't contain any information (headers for attributes are created anyway). I also get my TIN on the left panel (it's seems to be ok).

I'm using ArcGIS 9.0 and Hec-GeoRAS 4.1 for ArcGIS 9.0.

Thank you,

Johann.

EDIT: Ok, I finally understood the help of the 2nd poster. I left the terrain file undefined in Layer Setup and I fot the centerlines and cross-sections properly on the screen!

How can I make flood delineation without my TIN? How is it added afterwards on the GeoRAS project? Thanks again.

Re: Geo-RAS error

great! Not choosing a DEM in the layer setup really worked.

thanks a lot, this will save us a lot of time trying to locate and digitize cross sections!
