water surface

hi
i'm performing steady-state simulation. my question is: if i didn't define a storage area, is it normal that when increasing the flow, it doesn't overflow in the floodplain?
can i use levees to avoid that?
thank you

Re: water surface

If the calculated water surface is above the highest cross section data point that you entered, RAS will just use vertical walls along the edge of your cross section. This is illustrated in your picture. You will either have to extend the width of your cross section to include the floodplain or add a lateral structure and connect the cross sections where water overflows to a storage area.
