Weir Coefficient

Hello, weir coefficient is not constant value, it depands on the overflow height, how put the dependence into HEC-RAS? For example, the coefficient for small overflow height can be 1,12 and at rated height 1,35, how does HEC-RAS calculate with this?

Re: Weir Coefficient

To my knowledge, it doesn't. What you enter in for the weir coefficient is what RAS uses. Generally, using a representative value produces good results for typical flood/bridge studies. You could define a new coefficient for each profile you run (in steady flow), however, if you are running an unsteady flow model, you'll have to pick what you think best represents your situation (i.e. perhaps you want to be more precise at the maximum flood stage). If you need to be very precise throughout your simulation, I suggest defining the weir with a rating curve, rather than with a discharge coefficient. You can do this in RAS version 4.0 under the gate option of the inline structure editor.
