hec ras theory

I am currently taking a computational hydraulics class. I was wondering if anyone knew any information on the background computation model used in HEC-RAS.

Is it based on:
1. the finite control volume model fixed in space
2. the finite control volume model moving with the fluid
3. infinitesimally small volume fixed in space
or 4. infinitesimally small volume moving with the liquid?

Is it based on a conservative or non conservative form of the momentum and continuity equations?

Any insight will be really helpful! Thank you!

Re: hec ras theory

You should refer to the Hydraulic Reference Manual to answer all of your questions. HEC-RAS is more of a collection of different programs than one program that does everything.
