trash screen

Hi all,

does anyone know how to model a trash screen in HEC-RAS for steady flow analysis? I gather I should calculate losses and model those but not sure how.

One way would be to calculate or estimate the internal flow area of the trash rack and compare it with the area of incoming flow. Based on the ratio of the two, apply a suitable contraction coefficient based on standard backwater computation references.
