Error message in output

I have created a short reach hydraulic model where the opening is modeled as a Perched Bridge.

I ran the model and an error occured at the downstream internal bridge section.

the error read

"The elevation of the cross section needed to be extended. Doubling the height of the cross section four times was not sufficient. the cross section should be examined and coded to a new height."

Has anyone ever come across this error before?

The internal bridge section has a channel elevation that matches the natural slope of the waterway.

Re: Error message in output

I've gotten this error before also. It is my understanding that it is being triggered by some sort of intermediate computation (not the final water surface).

If the final results looks ok, you are probably ok.

I had also thought that this one had been fixed (at least I haven't seen it for a while). If you aren't using the latest version you might try that.

Re: Error message in output

I just got this error message also. My final results do not compute a WSEL for the DS bridge section though and the profile plot shows the WSEL inside the bridge ranging from 0 to infinity. Any luck on fixing the problem?

Re: Error message in output

When I was getting the error I was running a mixed flow regime, and a class B profile was created through the bridge.

I than ran the model using subcritical flow and the error did not appear.

However I dont know if this is really fixing the problem or just avoiding it.

In the notes if you are generating a class B profile as well, this may be away to get around the problem.
