Initial Values

Greetings,

I was having problems with initial values in my Unsteady Flow simulation, so I decided to do what it says in the manual when we're having stability problems at the very beginning of a run. I run the model with all inflow hydrographs set to a constant flow, and set the downstream boundaries to a high tailwater condition and decrease the tailwater down to a normal stage over time. Once the tailwater is decreased to a reasonable value, those conditions were written out to a DSS file, and then used as the starting conditions on the unsteady flow run. But when I run my model the message "The Hotstart file is not from Version 3.1.3 May 2005" appears in the Computation Messages Box, like in the attached picture.

I would like to know how I can solve the problem, and so, in witch way I can use a Restart File from a previous run in my current model calculations.

Thanks,

Re: Initial Values

I had a problem once, I used and old file from previous version. I think you should do exact how computational message displays, and that is creating hotstart file with curent HEC-RAS versions by re-running the plan and set of unsteady flow data. Try to use an option in unsteady flow analysis under menu options - output options - Restart file (write initial conditions file). You are required to put a time in hours from the beginning of the current simulation, which represents the time at which the conditions of the system will be written to the hot start file.
