HEC-RAS problem

Hi,

We are now trying to run a fairly large HEC-RAS model (1100 xsections). For steady flow run, we encountered a warning as below:
"An error occured in geometry data unit conversion"
does any body know what this means?

The steady run was able to proceed, but the result shew only flows in some reaches and the flow did not continue to the outfall. Some reaches were left dry althogh a flow was put in at the top end.

Is this because not enough cross section at the bends and junctions?
or is this model too big for HEC-RAS?

Anybody has any idea or experiences with similar work?

Re: HEC-RAS problem

I have successfully run models much larger than 1,100 cross sections. I have noticed that in version 4.0, the error message you described comes up every now and again. I think, but may be wrong, that it is a bug as opposed to something being wrong with your model.

If you are showing no flow in your channel, then that is a problem. It may be advisable to model each reach by itself first and then build your model one reach at a time to make sure each reach works in concert with the main stem.
