Modelling of downstream controlled irrigation canals

Hi all!

I am currently trying to find out how to model a downstream controlled open flow irrigation system. The special issue are the gates which are used. So called Avio/Avis gates for automatic level control.
If water is taken out of the system downstream of such gate the downstream water level will fall. This will cause the gate to open. The gate will close again as soon as consumption stops and the water level downstream will reach his normal elevation.

So what I want to ask is just if there is anybody who did such kind of modelling before and would like to share the knowledge.

Thanks in advance!

Michael

You might be able to use the elevation controlled gate option. If that does not work, download the RAS Beta 4.0 version from HEC and check out the new "rules" operation for inline structures. It looks like that has a lot of possibilities.

Thanks for the advise! Is there anybody experienced in the use of the software SIC or CanalMan?
