How to adjust default value of differeces in water surface elevation?

Hi to all,

I remember that (I have read somewhere) HEC-RAS automatically sets the default value for differerences in the water surface elevation at the two neighbouring cross-sections.

I wonder how large this default number is and how can we change this number according to a specific study. Is there any guidelines for such a change?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Tri Van

From the steady flow analysis run editor, click on options and then select, "Set Calculation Tolerances...". For steady flow the default is 0.01 feet and yes you can change it.

As far as guidance, I'm not sure what to say. If you are modeling a deep river like the Mississippi you could make it lot bigger. If you are comparing RAS with a hydraulic flume study, you would want it really tiny.

The cross-section should be straigh, shouldn't it?

Thank you very much for the post.

It is helpful.
