Errors with HEC-RAS

Product: Hec-Ras
Version: 2.1
Operating System: W95
Memory: 32mb
Problem Type: Software

Problem Description:
During the modelling of a stream with HEC-RAS, the program does not compute critical depth in several irregular cross-sections. This results in errors in the longitudinal river section. The program does not show the free surface (only the bottom and banks), when I ask for the simultaneous plot of critical depth and free surface. It plots though the W.S. alone!!!!!!!! The critical depths cannot be found anywhere (XS, nor tables, etc)

Also, before calculation, it is warning about some errror (Some file cannot be deleted), but it keeps going until the calcs are completed.

Is there an answer to this? Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Errors with HEC-RAS

Dear P. Papanicolaou :

Note that you can turn on a error log file to see where it is having difficulty with its model. This is explained in the HEC-RAS user documentation.

However, it maybe something as simple as being supercritical flow, and you only have HEC-RAS computing a subcritical profile analysis. Another thing you can try is by inserting additional interpolated cross-sections in this area to see if HEC-RAS will converge to an answer.

Note that there have been two updates to HEC-RAS since you purchased this. Version 2.2 and 2.2.1. Most of the changes have been bug-fixes. Perhaps these new versions correct the problem you are experiencing.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or need any further information.
