HEC-RAS 2.1 says "ATTACH HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED"

Hello all

I am trying to use HEC-RAS 2.1 (old version) when I press "Steady Flow Analysis" I get the message "ATTACH HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED" and the program does not calculate anything.

Can any one give me any hint what can cause this. Should I upgrade to 2.2. To be able to use a dot or (comma) in the "Cross section data" "Elevation" I have to set my Windows to Englis (United States) mode in CONTROL PANEL and restart the computer, is this the experiance of other European Users.

Please help me if you can.
thanks

Re: HEC-RAS 2.1 says "ATTACH HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED"

Dear Leifsson,

It just accept dot as decimal separator, and comma for thousand separator. The same is valid to HEC-HMS. Try to give more free memory to run the HEC-RAS, raising its memory on the HEC-RAS properties. I don't know if could be any conflict with later software installed. Keep us in touch and we will see if we can help you.

Re: HEC-RAS 2.1 says "ATTACH HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED"

Hi,

I had very disappointing problems with HEC-RAS 2.1, using french windows version, though my settings have always been french settings but whith a dot instead of a comma for decimals.

Almost all problems vanished when I upgraded to version 2.2.
I never had your particular error message though. It was generally "Error reading input data"

Hope this helps.

Janek

Re: HEC-RAS 2.1 says "ATTACH HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED"

Hi,

we experienced the same dot/comma problem with Win NT a while ago. Eventually we discovered that HEC-RAS 2.2 only worked properly when we changed the numbers decimal point AND the currency (!!) decimal point to a dot.

Absolutely no idea what the currency settings have to do with number crunching in HEC-RAS, but thats how we could fix this.

Hope this helps,

regards from Vienna,
