RMS & AutoCAD LT 2000i using LT Toolkit 2000i
Chung-ping
Do you think I could run BOSS RMS version 2000 on AutoCAD LT 2000i, using LT Toolkit 2000i, to allow access to LISP routines? I have been using RCAD version 2000 on my last 2 projects, but am curious to see what differences RMS has from RCAD. I know I would like to be able to use the command "audit" in AutoCAD that I cannot in RCAD.
Here is a brief description of LT Toolkit 2000i:
20 LT Toolkit 2000i - Version 2.0 has been designed to increase your productivity through the addition of a number of functions and commands. In addition it unlocks the LISP interface, allowing you to run your external programs in conjuction with AutoCAD LT 2000 or 2000i.
The additional commands allow for easy configuration of the function and cursor control keyboard keys, which can then be used to automate common functions. For example you can control your current layer, create a new layer, freeze, thaw, lock layers by pick and so on. Other commands allow you to easily set your viewpoint and UCS using minimal keypresses. These functions are all available as an API for inclusion into your own application.
The LISP enabler allows for both simple and complex LISP programs, including runtime loading of LISP files. It will also work with LISP created with "protect", "kelvinator", or "loklisp".

Re: RMS & AutoCAD LT 2000i using LT Toolkit 2000i
Dear Chris :
Note that RMS is written in C, C++, and FORTRAN, and as such uses the ARX (AutoCAD Runtime Extension) Interface to operate within AutoCAD.
From the LT Toolkit 2000i material that you have provided me, I don't think that RMS will operate within AutoCAD LT. Autodesk has crippled AutoCAD LT so that AutoLISP and ARX applications cannot operate within them. It sounds like the LT Toolkit 2000i will allow AutoLISP applications to operate. However, it does not sound like ARX applications will operate.

Re: RMS & AutoCAD LT 2000i using LT Toolkit 2000i
Chris
We tried installing RMS on my version of LT Toolkit 2000i, and ran into the problem of it not recognizing the format .arx. So, it turns out there is another version of toolkit I do not own called LT Toolkit MAX 2000i, that I have shown information on below, that will run the .arx extensions I believe. Would you agree?
LT Toolkit MAX 2000i has been designed to increase your productivity through the addition of a number of functions and commands. In addition it supports ObjectARX and ObjectDBX and unlocks the LISP interface, allowing you to run your external programs in conjuction with the latest version of AutoCAD LT 2000i.

Re: RMS & AutoCAD LT 2000i using LT Toolkit 2000i
Dear Chris :
From what you have shown me here, sounds like RMS will run without issue. However, you might want to contact them to confirm this. But, I don't see any snags.
Do you have a web address for this AutoCAD add on? I'm certain other clients would want this information. Also, please let me know what you find out.
If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Chris
Try this web site:
http://www.drcauto.com/products/ltto...00i/index.html
We are going to purchase this software and try it out. Ill let you know the results. I am wondering if we will have trouble running the raster image module on LT. Any thoughts? If we do have trouble running the module as it is, is that something you would be willing to help us get functioning?

Re: RMS & AutoCAD LT 2000i using LT Toolkit 2000i
Dear Chris :
Thanks for the info.
Note that the Raster Module is only available for RiverCAD. Autodesk has their own (similar) Raster Module called CAD Overlay. Therefore, we did not bother porting our Raster Module from RiverCAD over to AutoCAD.
If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.
