RMS floodplain mapping

I am trying to use the RMS floodplain mapping module, but i am running into several problems:

1) When RMS generates the ground surface (TIN) it uses "cross section boundary limit" to limit the area that is mapped. However, RMS is using the "cross section convex hull" to limit the area that can be flooded. As a result, there are large areas far from, and well above the river, that appear to be flooded because the floodplain mapping module has not generated elevation data in the area. Mapping was done with the "restrict conturs to witin model results" active.

How can I force RMS to use the "convex hull" for generating the ground surface?

2) RMS generates "impossible" flooded areas. At some locations RMS will generate flooded areas even if ALL points in the ground TIN, inside and surrounding the area, (corners of all TINs cutting/bounding the area) are at elevations well above ALL points in the 3D "edge of water" polygon RMS creates.

How is this possible?

3) The floodplain mapping module frequently causes ACAD to crash. (ACAD 14)

Solutions or suggestions regarding the floodplain mapping module will be very welcome.

Re: RMS floodplain mapping

Dear Lars:

Note that you need to have the software "regenerate" the ground terrain by selecting "Always Regenerate Ground Terrain". This is because the software only generates the ground terrain once. So, if it generates the ground terrain previously with a different setting, it will not change it until you select this.

Note that we have had no reports of the floodplain mapping module crashing AutoCAD 14 (or 2000). However, there always remains the chance that we have a problem in our software. If you can send us your drawing file as a ZIP file (to support@bossintl.com), we will try to reproduce the problem. Similarly with regard to your concern about the floodplain mapping problem you described.

I suggest that our technical support staff (email support@bossintl.com) should be your first line of defense for technical support, rather than our online forums.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
