Defining roadway geometry at upstream cross-section

Hi this is Paul again

I am running hec-ras in rivercad and am getting a error message that says

ERROR: no roadway elevation data has been set at the upstream cross- section for the bridge defined at cross-section 1298.5.

I have digitized the road in and filled out the weir flow parameters box. The manual says that I don't need to pick the road elevation and that hec-ras will pick it for me.

What do you think?
Thanks
Paul Simon

Re: Defining roadway geometry at upstream cross-section

Dear Paul :

Note that you need to define the roadway geometry at both the downstream and upstream bridge cross-sections when performing HEC-RAS analyses. This is easily done:

1. Select the downstream bridge cross-section as the current cross- section.

2. Select Input | Openings | Opening Definitions. The Opening Definitions dialog box will be displayed.

3. From the displayed dialog box, select "Upstream End" and then choose either "Dialog" or "Draw Road". RiverCAD will then allow you to define the roadway geometry at the upstream bridge cross-section.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,
