Importing new layer from AutoCAD

I need to import a layer into my RiverCAD project that shows the location of spoil piles leftover from mining. I have the file as a separate .dwg file but can't seem to figure out how to add this layer to my RiverCAD file. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Importing new layer from AutoCAD

Go to the CAD Drafting module | Parts | External Reference or type 'xlink' at the command line. It works just like xref in ACAD.

Make sure your file is coordinately correct and that the layers that the spoil piles are on will not conflict with something already in the file. You can then bind it and explode it and RiverCAD will read the 3D elements as normal.

Hope that helps
