Export to HEC-RAS 2.2
I'm posting this for all posterity (especially myself for future reference).
I was having trouble trying to get a particular project of mine running in HEC-RAS 2.2 once I exported it from RMS 2000.
My project ran successfully in BOSS RMS 2000 for AutoCAD, Build 17P: Jan 28, 2002, 16:16:12. I ran it using the Hec-ras module with no problems. Then exported the project and ran it within HEC-RAS 2.2 for Windows. Hec-ras 2.2 loaded the project with no problems but when I went to compute I got the following errors:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error - Incomplete data, the following errors were found:
River: "Reach #1" Reach: "VOP Sulphur Gulc" RS:17179.5
Internal Bridge XS upstream side - No Manning's n data or friction heights k set.
Internal Bridge XS upstream side - Left bank station not in station elevation data.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The solution ended up being two things:
1. In Hec-ras I needed to go into > edit > geometric data > bridge culvert data > options > internal bridge cross sections. In this table I needed to make sure that the manning's n's for the upstream and downstream insides correlated to the n's established for the upstream and downstream cross sections for the main channel and the overbanks. I'm not sure why but two of my culverts were ok but one was not.
2. Then I had to make sure that within this same table the bank stations on the top of the table matched exactly to the cross sections x-y coordinates below. I had to change one station from 1076 to 1076.004 to match the bank station exactly.
