contour layers for floodplain mapping

I tried to draw the ground and water surfaces from a correct HEC RAS Analysis.

I imported the crossections as x,y,z ASCII-files.

the ground geometry are contour lines (ACAD 2d-Polylines with the correct elevation), imported as dxf12-file by the "insert part - external" method.

When I specify in the "configure - elevation layer" menu this layer to use, and then run "floodplain map results" from HEC RAS -menu, a message is displayed:

"Unable to generate topo map ground surface:
No data found on elevation layers.
BOSS RiverCAD error report:
Unable to read surface data file. "

The AutoCAD-objects are correct.

If anybody could help me would be great.

Does anybody know if the "insert part"-method is the only way to get dxf-Files in Rivercad ???

Thank you

Werner

Re: contour layers for floodplain mapping

Dear Werner:

I would need to see your model to determine what is wrong with it. However, note that you need to have a completed HEC-RAS model for the HEC-RAS floodplain mapping to work.

You can email me your model if you want, and I will check it out.

Also, inserting a "part" is the same as inserting a "block", as it is in AutoCAD. The RiverCAD CAD engine refers to "blocks" as "parts".
