Reading point data

Chris,

I am trying to use an elevation layer with point x,y,z data in conjunction with 3-D topography layers. I can't seem to get RMS to recognize the point data when I click in the vicinity of a point. I have configured the layer of interest to "use".

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Reading point data

Dear Tamara :

Make certain that the points are actually "points" and not block inserts. Try listing their attribute data by selecting one of them and then specify "LIST" at the AutoCAD command line.

Also, you may need to turn on the appropriate OSNAP setting so that RMS will snap to the point in order to read the entity data from it.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Sincerely,

Re: Reading point data

Chris:

You may be right that these are "block inserts". See below. What do I need to do differently to use the data points?

BLOCK REFERENCE Layer: "SPOT"
Space: Model space
Handle = 4546B
"SYM121"
at point, X=1588439.25 Y=466948.16 Z= 540.19
X scale factor 3.20
Y scale factor 3.20
rotation angle 0d0'0"
Z scale factor 3.20
