Creating "fly down the river" animations using RiverCAD VR

I have been playing with the RiverCAD and VR programs today and was wondering how to create the VR layout files? Can these be created from within RiverCAD? If they can't then could you please let me know how they are created.

Regards

Danny Curtis :)

Re: Creating "fly down the river" animations using RiverCAD VR

Dear Daniel :

First, make certain that when you generate the floodplain mapping, you select "Generate RiverCAD VR Files". Then, when RiverCAD generates its floodplain mapping, it will generate the necessary BVR files.

Next, here are the steps on how to use RiverCAD VR. I used our lesson file L09AS.FLX (or L09AS.DWG for RMS) as an example.

1. From RiverCAD VR, click on File | Insert VR Scene.
2. In the dialog box open the file L09ASBOSS_GROUND.BVR. This is the land terrain model.
3. Right click on "VR Scene" in the tree browser on the upper left hand side of the program. This will bring up a menu that lists various options. Choose "Add Data" from the menu.
4. In the displayed dialog box, open the file L09ASBOSS_J1P1.BVR. This is the water terrain model.
5. If you want to add the TIN also, repeat step 3 and choose the file L09ASBOSS_GROUNDTIN.BVR.

After this, you can create and edit the flight path through the model.

1. Got to "Flight Path" in the Tree Browser.
2. In "Flight path properties," click the button that is labeled "Reinitialize Flight Path" and it will display a flight path that can be edited.
3. Move the points wherever you want to and test it by pressing the play button in the tools palette in the lower right hand corner of the program. NOTE: You need to hold the "Ctrl" key down to move the point vertically.

Let me know if you have any questions.
