Flooding outside of the levees

Chris,

I finally got the model to work. The bridge info was giving me problems. Now I am trying to map the floodplain and the model contains levees and ineffective flow areas. When the floodplain is mapped, it shows water outside of the levees even if the levees don't get overtopped (technically they shouldn't). Is there a reason why the model is doing this and is there a way to correct for it?

Re: Flooding outside of the levees

Dear Erica :

Does the terrain model contain the levee data, or is this something that you defined in only the HEC-RAS data. If it is part of the terrain model, then make certain you have checked "Restrict Contours to within Model Results" in the Advanced Floodplain Options dialog box. Also, note that there should not be any way for the water to "leak" outside of the levees, otherwise RMS or RiverCAD will show that the flood is outside of the levee.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.
