elevation not defined error

Hello, can anyone tell me how I can define the surface so I can cut cross sections? I keep receiving errors that the elevation is not defined after I screen 3D map. My file is a .dwg file that I opened with RiverCAD. Thankyou for your help.

Re: elevation not defined error

From the RiverCAD menu, select Configure | Elevation Data. RiverCAD will then display the Configure Elevation Data dialog, showing all of the layers that do not start with the word "BOSS_". Select those layers that contain elevation data and set their status to "USE". All other layers should be set to "IGNORE".

From there on out, RiverCAD will read elevation data from the defined elevation layers.

cross section table

Dear Mr. Maeder,

Thankyou for your help. I realized I also had to explode the objects since they were blocks.

After I screened the 3D map and cut the cross sections, a graph was displayed with the elevations. However, can you tell me how I can create a data table with the elevation and distances? I tried cross section table, but received an error stating 'cannot find analysis results'. Thankyou in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Ellis Byeon

Re: elevation not defined error

You cannot generate a cross section output data table without first running a HEC-RAS analysis. That is the error message that you are getting from RiverCAD.

If you want to see the cross section geometry as a set of data that can be exported to Excel, select Input | Ground Geometry | Edit Geometry. From the Edit Geometry you can then copy the cross section geometry station and elevation data to the clipboard and then paste this into Excel.
