start up error message

I just loaded River XP, and each time I open a new .dwg file I get a message reading, "error creating data directory", followed by an message reading, "the prototype path does not exist. Set a valid path with the User Preferences command from projects menu, then restart AutoCAD.

I do most of my work with Autodesk 2007, but I am running this software through Autodesk 2006. I am pretty familiar with AutoCAD, but am obviously new to the RiverXP software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: start up error message

I had a discussion with our developers regarding this issue. They state that the error message that you are reporting is not coming from RiverCAD XP. Maybe some other DLL or application is causing this error message to show up--such as Civil3D or Land Desktop. They suggested checking this by running AutoCAD 2006 without RiverCAD XP. It's not from RiverCAD XP.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.

Re: start up error message

Thanks, I have opened both Civil3D and LandDesktop without RiverXP and the error did not occur. It does not seem to be affecting anything so far, so I will just ignore it for now. If you have anymore suggestions let me know.
Thank you

Re: start up error message

You might be getting this error message on startup because the RiverCAD XP profile is only being inherited from the default installation settings and not from your "user" settings.

Please try the following steps:

1. Open AutoCAD without RiverCAD XP.
2. Go to Options->Profiles and delete the "RiverCAD" profile.
3. Make a copy of one of your working profiles or another valid profile.
3. Rename the copied profile as "RiverCAD".
4. Quit out of AutoCAD and start up RiverCAD XP.

This should solve the problem. If not, you may need to re-install RiverCAD XP. Let me know if you continue to have problems.
