Importing LiDAR point data

In RiverCAD, how do I go about importing LiDAR point data, create a TIN, then start cutting cross sections. I have the HEC-RAS module. Do I need the Terrain module? LiDAR data come in an ASCII text file of 10' x 10' grid points, each point having XYZ values. Note that LiDAR data are NOT cross-section data.

Re: Importing LiDAR point data

Note that you need to be in either the DEM Module or Terrain Module.

If you are running in the DEM Module, from the DEM Menu select DEM | Import DEM and select the ASCII LiDAR data file.

If you are running in the Terrain Module, from the Terrain Menu select Terrain | Open and select the ASCII LiDAR data file.

Note that the LiDAR data file has to be in one of the formats that we support.

You can then ask RiverCAD to contour this elevation data. In each of the module menu's you will see a Generate Contours command.

If you have any additional questions or need any further information, please contact me again.
