HEC-RAS Breach Routine

How (or does) RiverCAD XP interface with HEC-RAS's unsteady flow computations, in particular unsteady flow in conjunction with a dam breach?

I'd like to use HEC-HMS to generate DSS files to be read by HEC-RAS Unsteady Flow and use RiverCAD XP to build geometric models and illustrate the inundated areas of my study area.

Re: HEC-RAS Breach Routine

RiverCAD allows you to export your model to HEC-RAS and then you can run the unsteady flow computations in HEC-RAS. Then, RiverCAD can read to unsteady flow output file and can map the inundation extents of the peak flow on the topo map.

Please let me know if you need further detail on how to do this.

Re: HEC-RAS Breach Routine

Thanks Chris. I wanted to be sure the dam breach portion of HEC-RAS was still supported. Since inundation mapping is the focus of the studies I do, I was trying to learn more about the software packages and understand if, and why (other than obvious reasons *wink*, Boss suggests Dambreak.
