RiverCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009

Hallo,
I would like to ask if RiverCAD is compatible with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009?
The reason why I am asking is that, even though I have installed I can't see anything in the interface.
Any solutions?
Thanks in advance.
:)

RiverCAD Professional (a new version that has been in development for three years) and to be released shortly supports Civil 3D 2009. You should be able to download this within a week or two.

Chris,
That would be great. Any update on when it will be available? Also, is there a charge for the jump from RiverCAD XP to RiverCAD Professional?

Final release is next week. I have to finish up documenting all of the new features in it, marketing has to get it on the website, management needs to finalize upgrade fees. Busy, busy, busy...

RiverCAD Professional, and support for AutoCAD 2009, has been available for download for the last three weeks. You can download RiverCAD Professional from the following link:
RiverCAD Downloads, RIVERCAD Software, rivercad tutorials, and rivercad documentation

RiverCAD PRO

Hello,

Now that we are into Civil 3D 09, could you explain the process of upgrading to RiverCAD PRO? What is the upgrade fee.

I have been using RiverCAD XP for awhile with LDD07, but I'd like to have RiverCAD compatible with Civil3D 09.

Thank you.

The upgrade fee for RiverCAD Professional is fairly nominal--especially when you consider that we have not charged an upgrade fee for RiverCAD since 2005 and have released numerous "updates" to the XP RiverCAD release, as well as provide free technical support. Not many other software companies can boast about that.

A listing of the new features for RiverCAD Professional can be found here:
HEC-RAS Water Surface Profiles

RiverCAD Professional supports AutoCAD 2009, AutoCAD 2010, Civil 3D 2009, and Civil 3D 2010 (when Civil 3D 2010 is released next month).

Note that the upgrade fee for RiverCAD Professional depends when you purchased your copy of RiverCAD XP. If you purchased recently, the upgrade is free. You can either email sales@bossintl.com or call 1-800-488-4775 to have someone work up a quotation for your RiverCAD upgrade.

Yeah, but if you bought it a year ago, the cost is 50% of the retail for a new purchase. That's just a bit steep.

Note that the RiverCAD upgrade fee is a fixed cost, not 50% of the original purchase. Perhaps your orginal purchase did not include many of the available modules in RiverCAD.

Are all modules included in the RiverCAD Pro package? If not what is? If I have the base module with the HEC-RAS and Floodplain Mapping modules for RiverCAD XP, does the upgrade to RiverCAD Pro give additional modules? That wasn't made clear in my conversations with the sales staff?
Is RiverCAD Pro compatible with AutoCAD 2005?
What about compatibility with Civil 3d 2010? As this is a new dwg file format, will RiverCAD Pro be able to run with the new 2010 versions?

If you have specific questions regarding the upgrade, you should contact our Business Manager, Tammy Steller at 800-488-4775. She can best direct you to the resources you need to answer your questions.

RiverCAD PRO features

Chris,

Thank you for your quick response. I have a quick question regarding the new RiverCAD PRO.

In Civil3D 09, since everything is dynamically linked, cross-section cuts in AutoCAD can constantly update if I decide to change my surface for whatever reason.

Does that apply with RiverCAD PRO cross-sections as well? Can I cut cross-sections off of surfaces/and or stream corridors based on assemblies/sub assemblies in Civil3D 09 and have them linked so that if I do decide to change my surface, the RiverCAD cross-sections will change accordingly?

If not, can you explain the extent of the compatibility with Civil3D 09 and 10?

Thank you for your help.

Note that RiverCAD Professional will not automatically update the cross section geometry when the ground terrain changes. You need to select the command Input | Ground Geometry | Recut Existing Cross Sections to inform RiverCAD when you want this to occur.

This command then allows you to select to recut the current cross section or all cross sections. In addition, this command allows the user to select which Civil 3D surface it should reference. For example, this can be used to create both existing and proposed river models from different surfaces within the same Civil 3D drawing file.
